I’m pleased to announce that the Linux 2.6 kernel has been ported to Apple’s iPhone platform, with support for the first and second generation iPhones as well as the first generation iPod touch. This is a rough first draft of the port, and many drivers are still missing, but it’s enough that a real alternative operating system is running on the iPhone.

What we have:

- Framebuffer driver
- Serial driver
- Serial over USB driver
- Interrupts, MMU, clock, etc.

Well, I bought Creative x-fi USB 5.1 external sound card today. I was excited to pump up my laptop audio to HD 5.1 surround experience. I already own Logitech’s z5500 speakers which kick ass with 505Watt RMS expandable upto 1000W RMS.
My HP Laptop shipped with built in Conexant HD audio, it was sufficient till I started to think about surround sound in Games, movies and giving a new definition to Music.

Well, this sound card has it all. Initially when I attached them to speakers, I felt as if there is not much difference. But over time I made some adjustments and realized the Fidelity difference. Here are the certifications and standards that Creative promises to live up with.

  1. Better music and movie sound, made .. Read Further »

Remember what it used to feel with touch screen phones pre-iPhone?

Here is an outdated new phone by Nokia which will let your memories go fresh. This is a pathetic little touchscreen phone with the feel of Symbian UIQ3 that you used to get with previous generation phones like sony Ericsoon M600i, p990i.
The overall interface is sluggish slow just like any other symbian s60 phone. Well, Nokia by releasing this phone has proved that they are 5 years behind the other mobile manufactures. They did it today what sony did it 5 years ago. They tries to compete iPhone but they couldnt even make it up to Sony. lol. Nice joke Nokia!

Believe it or not, but it has taken 103 years and the combined power of various of the world\’s top supercomputers to prove Eintein\’s biggest equation right, resolving e=mc2 at the scale of sub-atomic particles. The feat has been achieved by a team of French, German, and Hungarian physicists led by Laurent Lellouch at the Center for Theoretical Physics in France, and has finally answered a question that has puzzled scientists for decades: The Mysterious Case of the Disappearing Atom Mass!

By now most of us have heard this story in one fashion or another: when Steve Jobs and Apple were in the planning stages of the iPhone, the first carrier they brought the device to was America’s largest network, Verizon. Even if you haven’t heard how the tale ends — Verizon refused and Jobs took his multi-billion dollar ball to AT&T — you surely know the outcome. The iPhone has soared to .. Read Further »

Rarely do we receive so many questions, so many comments and demands over an upcoming review.  In the few days since our HTC Touch HD unboxing and hands-on video demo, the messages have been flooding in.  Today, we’ll try to answer those questions – and, of course, the biggest question of them all: have HTC managed the unthinkable and tugged the must-have crown from the head of the iPhone 3G?  In the first half of our two-part review, we’ll be looking at the touchscreen, OS, GUI and keyboard entry, as well as the Touch HD’s internet abilities and more.

The new version of Google’s Mobile iPhone application that includes voice search recognition was made available as a free download on the App Store last night.

“The new Google Mobile App for iPhone makes it possible for you to do a Google web search using only your voice,” said Dave Burke, Engineering Manager for Google’s mobile team. “Just hold the phone to your ear, wait for the beep, and say what you’re looking for.”

In addition to allowing users to speak their search queries instead of typing them, the updated app (Free, App Store) includes an Apps Tab that allows you to reorder Google Apps to .. Read Further »

Unlike relational databases, InterSystems Caché® is a perfect match as the back end for object-oriented programming. It’s the world’s fastest object database, and runs SQL queries up to 5 times faster than relational databases. Plus, with an innovation by InterSystems called Jalapeño, Caché persists Java objects without relational mapping – reducing development time for Java programmers by as much as 40%.
