Apple has done it again, achieving second world record in a row. Apple announced Monday that over 2 billion apps have been downloaded from its App Store since the e-commerce shop’s launch in July 2008. The company also said that there are now more than 85,000 apps available.

It’s kind of handy when your phone is connected via wireless to your computer. Here is a guide that let’s you connect your iPhone/iPod Touch to your Mac without having to use any Wifi Router, the connection will be direct, also called AdHoc Wifi connection. It’s Internet’s God’s Birthday today: Google’s 11th birthday on Sunday, September 27th, 2009: to celebrate, the company has changed its logo to a version that turns the letter “L” into the number 11.

What’s interesting about the logo change is that Google’s official birthday is somewhat disputed: some often declare the company was born on September 15th 1997, the day the Google.com domain was registered. Meanwhile, Google filed for incorporation in September 1998: the papers were filed on September 4th, but Google has been known to celebrate on both September 7th and September 27th.

WP SuperCache pretty much does a very good job at speeding up wordpress blogs. By preparing static HTML pages from the original PHP and Mysql executions, a big performance improvement is observed.

Misconception: I don’t need caching

For a typical theme in wordpress, it needs to execute about 35 SQLs and 1000 of lines of PHP logic to yield a single page. Sure, modern servers are fast enough to do all this in split seconds. But when it comes to handling large traffics, like from Digg, Reddit,etc. it could easily prove out to be an overkill for the CPU. Put a Xeon or Core i7, just nothing would be able to handle 1000 simultaneous hits, without delays.
