Google Wave In Thunderbird 3

Thunderbird 3 released a stable version yesterday, and the popularity is already on peeks, the reason being to snappy Tabs.

Like me, most people love to use Thunderbird at work instead of crappy Outlook. After all, Thunderbir is pluggable. Adding to the delight, here comes a hack to inject Google Wave into Thunderbird, so that you never stop collaborating.

How To:

Open Error Console window (Tools > Error Console) and copy/paste the following code:

Components.classes['@mozilla.org/appshell/window-mediator;1'].getService(Components.interfaces.nsIWindowMediator).getMostRecentWindow("mail:3pane").document.getElementById("tabmail").openTab("contentTab", {contentPage: "https://wave.google.com/wave/?nouacheck"});

When done, hit Enter. Now Google Wave tab opens up. Simply login and starting Waving.

Thunderbird 3 saves all tabs when closed, so you won’t have to go through the steps again when you start another session of Thunderbird.
