iPhone 4: 1.7 Million sold, 4x times iPhone 3GS

iPhone 4 craze is on big time high, and seems like it surpassed what Apple estimated. Thanks to the Pre-ordering madness, Apple is able to sold 1.74 million iPhones in just 3 days.

Breaking down the numbers there were 600,000 pre-orders, and 1.1 million through direct sales. This number is huge as compared to last years of  iPhone sales: The iPhone 3G sold 1 million in its first weekend two years ago, as did the iPhone 3GS with 1 million sales in 5 days, last year.

The number is even more impressive given the fact that this year’s iPhone 4 is troubled with lots of issues revolving around everything from Poor signal reception to volume buttons upside down. Are Apple fans proving that they don’t care about voice calls  or is it the case that they rely on Apple to fix it?

iPhone 4 is also available in only five countries currently;  Apple is adding 18 additional countries primarily in Asia,  and Europe in a time span of a month. By the end of the year, they’ll add 15 more.
