Oracle Buys AmberPoint

oracle-middleware-amberpoint Larry Ellison is shopping spree this recession season. The world’ largest Tech acquisition at $7.5 billion has just finished and Oracle is ready for the next step — Governance Systems.

AmberPoint is a new solution for providing oversight across development and operational environments. Featuring a discovery-driven approach, it automates most of the manual effort typically associated with cataloging the application environment and ensures policy compliance across the lifecycle. AmberPoint Governance System solves the inflexibility and effort that typically hinder enterprise governance initiatives.

AmberPoint’s software will be embedded into Oracle’s Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) offerings. The current offerings falls under Oracle Middleware 11g suite which  includes Oracle SOA Suite, Weblogic Suite, WebCenter, Identity management, Fusion Middleware.

Oracle says that the addition of AmberPoint’s software will help customers diagnose and manage the performance of business applications, provide monitoring for application performance, a good step towards SOA governance.

Oracle is already the market leader in SOA, this acquisition intends to raise the bar higher. Or may be Oracle is packing-up bags for serious Cloud Computing.
