I had been looking around for a Reliable app that could enable me to Stream all my video collection on the iPhone from PC/Mac.

I ended up trying a number of applications like TVersity, certain webapps, and certain paid apps but, none of them gives you the features I found in addictive app: Air Video

Google has just launched Google Apps Marketplace during it’s annual event ”Campfire One” in Mountain View. The App MarketPlace is a new app store for business.

Opera had really impressed us time to time. Their Opera 10.5 proves that they are still innovating fast enough to fight the browser wars.

But on the software side, it’s a different story. Few who envy Open source believe information is free and must be redistributed at no cost. But software giants have a different approach to it.

App Store gives Developers freedom to choose the right price for their App. Apple plays fair here, but few developers don’t. Some of the apps have ridiculously high prices.

We decided to make a list of most expensive, Overpriced Apps:

1. I Am Rich – Cost $999.99

The cost seems so ridiculous. What did App do? Nothing, It showed you a red diamond that reminds you that you were able to afford this. Easy to realize, pointless. Few iPhone users bought it an then repented. Apple soon took an action refunded the money, removed the app from App Store.

iPhone App Store reaches 100,000 Apps

World’s biggest App Store is now even bigger. Several app analytics sites are reporting the number of apps that have been approved for use in the App Store have surpassed 100,000 apps.

There hasn’t been any official announcement from Apple yet, though it is possible we could hear something from them at any time about this.

Apple App Store 2 Billion Downloads, 85k+ Apps

Apple has done it again, achieving second world record in a row. Apple announced Monday that over 2 billion apps have been downloaded from its App Store since the e-commerce shop’s launch in July 2008. The company also said that there are now more than 85,000 apps available.

Currently, there are 50 million iPhone and iPod Touch customers powered by over 125,000 developers in Apple’s iPhone Developer Program. All that has combined to make the company’s App Store the world’s largest applications store.

It’s ironical, that cellphones from Nokia, Sony, had been around since decades, still their apps combined, the no. would be much less than Apple’s.

No doubt, Steve Jobs never thought that iPhone and iPod Touch would become more famous as gaming platforms. They easily kickout Sony PSP, and Nintendo DS, and now become no.1 in Mobile Gaming. Prevalently, Gameloft, the biggest game developer, is rapidly becoming synonymous with “kick-ass iPhone games.”

It took nearly two weeks for Apple to review, Facebook’s totally revamped 3.0 application is finally live on the App Store. You can download it now here.

iPhone App that made $20k in a Week – Unit Conversion $0.99 App

For developers and for Companies interested in developing iPhone apps, it’s a good news. In the first two weeks the iPhone Unit conversion app has been downloaded around 40,000 times.

Since the price of the application is $0.99, it turns out the app has pulled at least $39,600 so far, or just under 3,000 dollars per day, and it’s still growing. It reached the #2 top paid app spot in the US App Store, jumping from about a 1,000 downloads on 13th of August to over 6,000 daily downloads on August 25th.

Earlier we talked about Apple Publicly Responds to FCC on Google Voice App Status and App Store – When they declared that “Google Voice alters iPhone experience“, and now AT&T admits something that we knew but was never official I believe.

Apple Publicly Responds to FCC on Google Voice App Status and App Store

After Pressure from FCC raised alarms, Apple was expected to file comments with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission regarding their purported rejection of the Google Voice iPhone application. Apple has complied and published their response to the FCC in the Hot News section of Apple.com.

Till date we have blamed Apple for its evil deeds of Spurious App Store Rejections. But have we tried to analyze the justifications deeper ?

It’s time to digg-out things from the mine Apple had been hiding. Last week, we reported Apple’s Phil Schiller coming out to explain things – Facts about rejections.

Developers are shocked when they receive a rejection from Apple. Their iPhone non-harmful app, had been blocked from iTunes because it contained “inappropriate sexual content.”, “Too high on resources”, etc.

But this guy, is somehow frustrated by “Apple’s monopoly”. He clearly shows by writing a message in notes app that he is left frustrated by the policies and not the Technology at Apple. The way Apple has monoplized App Store – is the best example.

Google Responds to Apple with Enhanced Google Voice Web app for iPhone

Following the no. of events like Apple rejecting the Google Voice App from App Store, and then FCC jumping into investigation and finally Google moving out of Apple’s Board; Google, today had something new to surprise us — Google will go and enhance the Web app and give Apple a solid bang.

Google is planning on over-hauling the application. In NYT, David Pogue’s column regarding the ongoing saga of Apple and Google Voice, he reveals that Google has already found a loophole:

FCC – Apple and AT&T Questioned for Google Voice App Rejection

When Apple rejected Google voice App from App Store, questions were raised. How could they reject such a revolutionary App for a premier partner of Apple?

It didn’t make sense. Most people predicted the culprit is AT&T. Apple living hard on AT&T’s mercy, goes as per what suits this steamy big old carrier.

Were predicting that someone someday will wake up to investigate why Google’s Voice app was rejected. Did Apple give out a similar excuse – like they did for avoiding Leagalization of Jailbreaking of iPhone.

Verizon VCast App Store – Developers show Heavy Interest

Are you on a Jailbroken iPhone? This news will probably will make you prouder and powerful.

Talks started from Electronic Frontier Foundation who was making attempts for making Jailbreaking a legal right for every iPhone owner, encouraging a more open world of OpenSource.

In response, Apple gave a statement that would make it impossible for Jailbreaking to be legal in years to come.

Google Voice kep users excited when it first touched Mobile platform last to last week with entry to Android, Blackberry native apps.

We were waiting impatiently for the iPhone App. And what da Hell. Apple hung up on Google, rejecting its Google Voice mobile app that would of allowed iPhone users to swap text messages for free.

The news via TechCrunch published yesterday quoted a Google spokesperson that says Google submitted its Google Voice mobile application to Apple six weeks ago. The Google spokesperson told TechCrunch,

“Apple did not approve the Google Voice application.”

iPhone AntiVirus, AntiMalware is coming. Do we need it?

Ok, if you ever used those symbian phones, you probably have felt the need of Antivirus on mobile platform. There are 100s and 1000s of sources for .sis installer files with no trusted signing authority. (even signed apps have malware).

Antivirus software maker AVG has outlined plans to deliver malware protection for the iPhone by the end of 2010. I have two questions: 1. Is it needed? and 2. Will it ruin the iPhone experience?

Smith from AVG product development said:

“I’d love to see it towards the end of next year, Really, it’s less about AV [and more to do with] protecting and stopping anything from getting on there, in real-time. [Malware creators] will use the Web to propagate on to these devices as much as they possibly can.”

Verizon dares to Stand Against Apple iPhone App Store, changes Concept

Till date we have seen Mobile Vendors coming up with App Store. Ofcourse, Apple started it, RIM, Nokia, sony, google android followed the trend and started their own.

But what Verizon is going to do, if successful, will change the concept. Verizon is joining with Vodafone, Japan’s SoftBank, and China Mobile to grab a chunk of the mobile-software market from the phonemakers to the Service providers.

F.A.S.T. – Fleet Air Superiority Training!

This game is super cool for all the fans of flight simulator. Ofcourse it’s mobile platform don’t expect advanced controls, but this one gives u pleasant graphics and flying experience. Packed with action shooting and 10s of Mission makes this game a worth go.

Hero Of Sparta
Hero of Sparta is one of the first Action game that brings the story of Sparta and 300 alive. The Game features alot of levels, missions and variety of weapons, powers to choose from as you gain points. The fights with monsters is truly multi-touch experience, makes you feel u are actually fighting the dragons.

Terminator Salvation

If you love RPG on PC, this one is the best alternative on mobile. Expect PSP level graphics from this game. Terminator based on the altest movie salvation is packed with Rich grpahics. Game offers a a mission based game where you have to fulfill all the objectives one by one.

This is not a 3D game but I found it worth mentioning. It is a cartoon based fantasy games, looks like for kids at the first look, but dont get mistaken. It has some really good graphics and can be categorized under “good adventure games”.

Well, this one is ported version of PC Quake 3 to iPhone. Expec a bit lower level of graphics than pc. And this game is available only for Jailbroken iPhones. I found it very hard to play with very difficult controls.

This is the best Tennis game you can get on any mobile platform. Graphics are Rich, smooth and interface is really easy to play compared to other tennis games that have appeared on iPhone.

Real Racing

If you want to play the best Real like racing game on iPhone with support for online and offline multiplayer, this one is for you. It’s a technically peerless racing game that really pushes into the realms of the PSP racer.

More than that, though, Real Racing shows how the iPhone’s unique controls needn’t be a handicap for traditional game types. As you tear around each beautifully detailed track, you tilt the handset to steer, making for one of the finest approximations of steering yet seen on a portable device.

Developer Firemint hasn’t forgotten about the experience outside of the cockpit, either, with some fiendishly sophisticated AI giving you a proper test on the track. And when you tire of the single player experience there’s a whole host of multiplayer options to keep you racing.

Metal Gear Solid Touch

This Game is a bindblowing third person shooter packed with graphics. Don’t expect any stealth. MSGT is basically a glorified shooting gallery, set in Metal Gear Solid 4 environments against Metal Gear Solid 4 baddies. The graphics are so good and the gunplay mechanics are so satisfying, however, that you probably won’t mind a bit.

Rating: 8.5/10

Myst

What felt dated by modern PC standards – the static screens, repetitive sound effects, cheesy video and limited movement – now seems perfectly streamlined for on-the-go iPhone gaming. Let’s hope this is just the beginning of a portable point-and-click resurgence.

Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles

Assasin creed is graphics rich game with lot of great 3D rendering. You won’t find another free-roaming sandbox with current-gen graphics, but you will get a surprisingly deep, remarkably fun platforming game in the mold of last-gen Prince of Persia. You’ll also get 6-8 hours of mobile entertainment for half the cost of the DS version. This games proves that iPhone 3d platform has higher scope than what other mobile gaming did.

Tiger Woods PGA TOUR

Hard to believe, considering the publisher and the hefty charge, but Tiger Woods on iPhone is a terrific buy. Almost everything you love about the console games has been fit in here: the licensed courses, the extensive tournaments, the professional cameos, the character generator, the precise control scheme and over 120 holes to choose between. Wow.

Rating: 9.5/10

Need for Speed Undercover

The app store offers dozens of racing games, but Need for Speed Undercover is the best by far. The graphics are spectacular. A perfect replacement for PSP – and the play modes are varied.

Brothers In Arms: Hour of Heroes

This game is one of the first 3D 3rd person shoot cum action game. But don’t mistake this one to be a less on Graphics. the audio and video effects will blow your mind. It’s a WWII shooter franchise that isn’t Call of Duty or Medal of Honor. You know, the one with the serious story and the character development and the team strategy and the “Brothers” in its title. You know which one we’re talking about, right?

Rating: 8.5/10

Silent Hill: The Escape

It’s based on The survival horror series, responsible for making psychological pain and billowing brown fog as scary as a dude with a giant rusty sword and bloody pyramid for a head.

Not worth unless you’re a diehard Silent Hill apologist. If you take away the story, characters and overall reason for wandering through repetitive dark hallways, all you’re left with is… repetitive dark hallways. Except on the iPhone, you’re also stuck with clunky graphics and hit-or-miss controls. Drab and dull all around.
Rating: 6.5/10

Time Crisis Strike

It is Based on Time Crisis is another arcade favorite, another first-person rail shooter and another attempt to save some kidnapped member of the President’s family with attached plastic weaponry. Didn’t we review this already?

Worth: Remember VirtuaCop and Time Crisis? this is the same game concept brought to iPhone. Unfortunately, as this game was originally designed for play with a light gun, all you really do is tap enemies as they run across your field of vision. Blocky, polygonal enemies that haven’t been updated whatsoever since 1995. Recommended for nostalgia, but not much else.

Half a billion apps downloaded from the App Store

Apple today announced â€“ via a huge banner on their Web site â€“ that over 500 million apps have been downloaded from the App Store on iTunes.

Update: This means that (roughly) 200 million apps were downloaded in the last six weeks. Thatâ€™s 4.76 million apps per day (or 55 apps per second.) At this rate, assuming no acceleration, Apple would hit the 1 billion download mark some time around 24 April 2009.
